Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using Aura Audiobook Player ("the App"). By downloading, installing, or using the App you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. DESCRIPTION OF THE APP
Aura is a local, offline audiobook player that operates entirely on your device. The App does not connect to the internet, does not upload any files or data to any external server, and does not store any user information outside of your device.
2. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
By using the App you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. Continued use of the App after any update to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
3. USER CONTENT & LIABILITY
Aura does not provide, curate, distribute, or host any audiobook content. All audio files loaded into the App are sourced, selected, and managed solely by you, the user. By using the App you represent and warrant that: (a) you own or have obtained the lawful right, licence, or permission to access and play all audio files you add; (b) your use of such content does not and will not infringe the intellectual property rights — including copyright, neighbouring rights, or contractual rights — of any third party; (c) you will not use the App to circumvent any digital rights management (DRM) system or technological protection measure; (d) you will comply with all applicable local, national, and international laws governing the acquisition, reproduction, and playback of audio content. The developer assumes no responsibility whatsoever for any content you load into the App. All liability arising from the legality, ownership, licensing, or use of such content rests solely and exclusively with you.
4. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY OF THE APP
All rights, title, and interest in and to the App — including its design, source code, graphics, and features — remain the exclusive property of the developer. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, copy, modify, sublicense, or redistribute the App or any portion of it.
5. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. THE DEVELOPER DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR UNINTERRUPTED.
6. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the developer shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the App, including but not limited to: (i) data loss or corruption; (ii) device damage; (iii) loss of profits or goodwill; or (iv) any claims, proceedings, or penalties — including copyright infringement claims — arising from content you have loaded into the App. The App operates entirely on your device. The developer has no visibility into, control over, or responsibility for any content you choose to load or play.
7. PRIVACY
Your use of the App is governed by our Privacy Policy, incorporated into these Terms by reference. The App does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with the developer or any third party.
8. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India.
9. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
The developer reserves the right to update or revise these Terms at any time. Changes will be presented within the App on next launch. Continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

PRIVACY POLICY
Effective date: 23 May 2026
Your privacy matters. This Privacy Policy explains what data Aura Audiobook Player stores, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.
1. NO PERSONAL DATA COLLECTED
Aura is a fully offline, local-first application. The App does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with the developer or any third party. No analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or telemetry SDKs are included in the App.
2. DATA STORED LOCALLY ON YOUR DEVICE
The App stores the following data locally on your device only, using Android's DataStore preferences: - Listening progress — track index and position per book - Bookmarks — labels and timestamps you create - Daily listening statistics — total listening time per day - App preferences — skip-forward and skip-backward durations - Library folder URI — the folder you grant the App access to - Terms acceptance — whether you have accepted these Terms This data is stored in the App's private storage, is not readable by other apps (absent root access), and never leaves your device.
3. PERMISSIONS
The App requests only the permissions required to function: - READ_MEDIA_AUDIO / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — to read audio files in the folder you select - FOREGROUND_SERVICE / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK — to continue playback when the screen is off or the App is in the background - POST_NOTIFICATIONS — to display playback controls in the notification shade and on the lock screen
4. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Aura does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data-collection services. The App uses only the following open-source libraries, none of which collect personal data: - AndroidX / Jetpack libraries (Google) - Media3 / ExoPlayer (Google) - Kotlin Coroutines (JetBrains) - Gson (Google) - Guava (Google)
5. DATA SECURITY
All locally stored data is protected by Android's standard application sandboxing. The App enforces a strict network security policy that blocks all cleartext (HTTP) network traffic, and makes no outbound network requests.
6. BACKUP & RESTORE
Android may back up App data (listening progress, bookmarks, statistics, and settings) to Google Drive via Android's Automatic Backup feature, if backup is enabled on your device. The library folder URI is included in backups but may not be valid after a device restore — you may need to re-select your audiobook folder.
7. DATA DELETION
You can delete all locally stored App data at any time: Android Settings → Apps → Aura → Storage → Clear Data Uninstalling the App will also remove all locally stored data.
8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
The developer reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy. Any changes will be reflected within the App. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
